Record Store Day began April 19, 2008 when independent record stores across the country banded together to promote themselves by releasing several special vinyl and CD recordings and hosting exclusive in-store artist performances. Record Store Day is now an annual event celebrated on the third Saturday of every April.

Even though Langerado Music Festival was cancelled at the last minute, many bands still found places to play this weekend.

Opening tomorrow in the Hecht Studio Theater, 9 Parts of Desire examines nine Iraqi women who provide a mosaic of life in and out of Iraq from the first Gulf War to the attacks on September 11.

The Miami Science Museum, just a 15 minute drive north on US 1 from campus, hosts the "Music Música" interactive exhibit about the scientific and social aspects of music through February 22.
