School of Architecture professor Sonia Chao and faculty members want to encourage the preservation of Havana and its urban and architectural identity as it faces a lack of maintenance she calls “worrisome.”
“It is very important for them to attend because they have this great forum for them to be engaged,” el-Khoury said. “They can influence decisions, so I encourage them to take this opportunity fantastic.”
Tomas Spain, a retired professor from the University of Miami and founder of the Rome program, started the first golf tournament 13 years ago to help sponsor studies overseas. It also helps award students with scholarships and a variety of expenses, such as visits to other cities related to their seminars and studio themes.
"I love doing things at UM. I'll come in and guest lecturer in certain classes," said Michael Tillman, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of PTM Partners "I want my discussions to be interactive. It would be boring otherwise."
“We were interested in saying that these technologies can be used for lots of different approaches in architecture and particularly in how they relate to practices of drawing, which is ancient practice and architecture.” said architect Adam Marcus. “That was one kind of motivation.”
