When he stumbled on a double shooting scene in Overtown recently, graduate student Charles “Stretch” Ledford instinctively pulled out his iPhone and began shooting video, until a police officer walked up and tried to snatch it away. Ledford stood his ground and held on to his phone.
This month, a group of UM medical students went all out to “break the law” – and they finally succeeded. On Sunday evening, the med school captured the 2011 Dean’s Cup against the law school in an intense annual rivalry that dates back to the early 1980’s.
The Children and Youth Law Clinic at the University of Miami School of Law provides participants with an opportunity to step outside the classroom and tackle actual cases involving current and former foster students.
