Brunch with the girls? First date? Big family meal? Mayfair Grill is the perfect restaurant for everyone in Miami.
Nestled within the heart of Coconut Grove, Mayfair Grill offers an experience that feels more like stepping into a serene, tropical escape than a typical Miami eatery.
With the first step into the dining area, there is an ambiance reminiscent of 1960s and 1970s Miami architecture. The space is adorned with vibrant art, cascading greenery and intricate stone carvings that transforms the grill into an urban jungle oasis.
The atmosphere is undeniably one of the restaurant’s strongest assets. Overflowing plants spill over balconies, creating a natural canopy that makes the open patio feel like an arboretum. Water features add to the peaceful setting. The sunlight filtering through the foliage enhances the restaurant’s relaxed yet elegant charm.
It’s the perfect spot for a group meal, and the clientele, young families, groups of friends, older couples and solo diners, reflect this. They all seemed to appreciate the setting’s unique aesthetic.
The service was excellent. Staff was welcoming and friendly, with great communication and helpful recommendations. From the moment I arrived, I felt like a valued guest rather than just another customer. The management, in particular, made an effort to be present and accommodating, which left a lasting positive impression.
As for the food, the menu balances sophistication with accessibility. At the waiter’s suggestion, I started with the Black Truffle & Potato Croquetas ($14), which arrived hot and crisp. The balance of flavors was spot-on, making it a solid 8/10 and one of the more reasonably priced appetizers on the menu.
The brunch menu ranged from $13 Brioche Toast to $39 Steak Frites. For students who are looking to stay on a lower budget, I would avoid the “Brunch Fav’s” section and stick to the “Griddled Sweets” and “Toasts” that have a maximum price of $22.
However, I think the prices do reflect the quality of the food, so if taste and flavor are your top priority, “Brunch Fav’s” all the way – and throw in one of Mayfair’s signature cocktails under the “Beverages” section.
For the main course, I tried the Iberico Steak & Eggs ($27), which, while flavorful, didn’t quite wow me beyond a respectable 7/10. My guest had the Smoked Salmon Toast ($22), which also earned a 7/10, good, but not particularly a standout. The plating was beautifully done, warranting an 8/10 for presentation.
The drinks menu offered some exciting choices. While the presentation was somewhat underwhelming, with plain-looking glassware and little to no garnishes or extra pizazz, the flavors and size made up for it.
I enjoyed the Passion Fruit Spritz, while my guest had a virgin Bloody Mary, both of which were well-balanced and delicious. The spiciness of the Bloody Mary was especially enjoyable. They earned a solid 8.5/10.
In the end, this restaurant delivered a dining experience that extends far beyond just food and drinks, it’s about the atmosphere, service and tranquility it provides. While a few elements could be refined, I would absolutely return.
The food, while flavorful and beautifully plated, my Iberico Steak & Eggs was lukewarm and wasn’t the most memorable. Additionally, the drink presentation, though balanced in taste, could benefit from more attention to detail, simple garnishes or upgraded glassware would elevate the visual appeal.
The restaurant offers a diverse menu, but a few more budget-friendly options for students and locals could make it even more accessible.
I give this restaurant a strong 8.5/10 overall, this spot is well worth a visit for those looking for a lovely meal and a relaxing experience without leaving the comfort of Coconut Grove.
