Long before the final horn sounded, everyone on Miami’s men’s basketball team was having a great time at a party with plenty of guests inside the Watsco Center, including former MLB slugger Alex Rodriguez and NFL wide receiver Eric Decker.
“We had a couple of no-show performances. We had a couple of players that needed to check themselves and get their focus back,” Miami head coach Katie Meier said. “We didn’t deserve to win the game from the jump. We started flat.”
“I don’t know if there’s a better defensive team obviously than Georgia Tech,” Miami head coach Katie Meier said. “They make it so difficult. I know they were on that unfortunate four-game stretch there, so I was just hoping that in the fourth quarter, we’d have a little bit more energy. And, I think we had a lot more energy.”
“I’m really proud of this team,” Miami head coach Katie Meier said. “It was a game of adjustments. We won a big-time game and stayed composed, so I’m really happy with the outcome.”
Florida State hit two foul shots with 0.8 seconds left to break the Hurricanes’ nine-game win streak in a 65-64 Miami loss Tuesday night inside Donald L. Tucker Civic Center.
“[It was] just a great basketball game, and I think we got a heck of a lot better in a day since the last time we played,” Miami head coach Katie Meier said. “[NC State is] absolutely as advertised."
“Duke obviously has earned their high ranking. I’m really, really proud of how my guys executed the game plan and stuck together,” Miami head coach Jim Larrañaga said.
For the first time in 2 ½ weeks, the Hurricanes (7-3) will get their chance to battle an ACC opponent and garner yet another home victory against Wake Forest Thursday at 7 p.m.
