“Well, I thought we got off to a great start with a lot of energy and a lot of determination at both ends of the court. We defended very well in the first half; we only gave up 28 points, which is really good,” Miami head coach Jim Larrañaga said.
“We jumped out early but got a little immature, offensively. Our bench has been awesome for us all year, but it was a tough environment and there was not a whole lot of communication when we needed it,” UM head coach Katie Meier said. “All the big-time games are like that and, usually, the NCAA Tournament is like that. We survived it and gave ourselves a chance by doing some incredibly special things in the third and fourth quarter, but NC State had a really nice shooting night.”
"I thought that was a very entertaining college game. Both teams played very hard and, I’d say, very well, for the most part. It comes down to the overtime," Miami head coach Jim Larrañaga said. "We just had too many turnovers for the game. We only have five assists with 17 turnovers. I would prefer the opposite."
“Georgia Tech is a fantastic defensive team. In the second quarter, I thought we looked like an Elite Eight team. We looked as good as we have all year,” head coach Katie Meier said. “We came out of halftime expecting them to be hot again and they were. Georgia Tech is going to start getting some wins so this is a great win for us.”
After defeating No. 22 North Carolina on Thursday, Miami women’s basketball took down the ninth-ranked Virginia Tech Hokies 77-66 on Sunday afternoon at the Watsco Center. It was the second straight win over a Top-25 opponent for the Hurricanes.
“That is life in the ACC. It is, without question, the best conference in the nation,” head coach Katie Meier said. “North Carolina is really talented, well-coached and physical and we just played our guts out. Two wins in a row in this conference is a great week for Miami and we’re going to try to make it three on Sunday.”
“Notre Dame is a special team and they had to make the extra pass to beat us,” head coach Katie Meier said. “We’re there. We’re not going to doubt ourselves. We were disruptive and got the looks we wanted and I am proud of our team.”
