Sophomore Ariana Rodriguez and senior Dalia Wilson played key supporting roles in the Hurricanes victory with 37 assists and eight blocks respectively.
The ‘Canes found themselves in a tightly contested battle in the first set, keeping it close until FGCU went on a quick 10-4 run to take the set win 25-19.
FGCU came out hot at the beginning of the second, jumping to a 6-2 lead. However, the middle of the set was dominated by Miami as they found themselves leading the Eagles 21-14.

UM carried their momentum into the next set, grabbing an early 6-0 lead and forcing the Eagles to take a timeout. Despite FGCU head coach Thais Baziquetto-Allen’s best efforts, the Eagles never came close to regaining the lead, as Miami finished off the set handily 25-15.
Miami found themselves challenged by FGCU’s attack at the beginning of the fourth, but finished the game strong to take the final set 25-16.
UM will face off next at FIU on Saturday, looking to win its tenth straight game.
